Salford Priors Residents Action Group
SPRAG is not a political organisation and its aim is to:- 1. Foster and maintain the collective interests and well being on behalf of the residents of the parish Salford Priors. 2. To give further support and assistance where the usual channels of communication have not proved satisfactory. Salford Priors Residents Action Group was formed in 1990 when local residents became alarmed at the prospect of planning permission being granted for a number of sand and gravel sites within the parish. Today, only one site is located within the parish and the Western Aggregates, Marsh Farm location is generally regarded in the sand and gravel industry as an excellent example for other sand and gravel sites to follow. The action group continued its existence to become a residents association and has been responsible for the negotiations of a natural gas supply to the village, an annual village fete and the introduction of a Neighbourhood Watch scheme. SPRAG produces and distributes a bi-monthly parish newsletter to every household in the village, free of charge. The 'SPRAGMAG' predominately includes items of parochial interest but has a number of regular contributors who use it as a vehicle to keep in touch with their associations. There are a number of beautiful walks within the parish and SPRAG is currently assisting the Stratford District Council under their 'Parish Paths Partnership' scheme in inspecting and reporting on the condition of all footpaths in the parish. SPRAG is in the early stages of preparing a 'Village Design Statement' in conjunction with the Parish Council which will reflect the views of the parish to the District Council planners on how the residents would prefer the future development of the parish to be. The SPRAG committee hold bi-monthly meetings
